Supplementary Data To Galkin et al., "ADF Stabilizes an Existing State of F-actin and Can Change the Tilt of F-actin Subunits". J. Cell Biol., 2001, Vol. 153, pp. 75-86 Three actin subunits and three of each first and second bound h-ADF are included in the UNIX-compressed PDB file "three_subunits.pdb". Note that actin and ADF subunits were fitted to the EM data individually (helical symmetry was applied). Therefore, no effort was made to alleviate steric clashes. In particular, the N-terminus of the first ADF overlaps with actin. This is consistent with [Hatanaka et al., Cell 85 pp. 1047, 1996], where such a clash was first reported in their model. Molecular dynamics simulations of cofilin revealed a highly flexible N-terminus that required remodeling to alleviate the steric clash with G-actin [Wriggers et al., J. Molecular Biology 282 pp. 921, 1998]. Last update: May 16, 2001. ----------- In case of problems or questions please contact Willy Wriggers (wriggers "at" biomachina.org)
