First Annual Paul C. Boyle Award for Excellence in Student Research

The Paul C. Boyle Award for Excellence in Student Research is awarded to a program student in the School of Health Information Sciences for individual research. The award is named after SHIS graduate student and fellow Biomachina laboratory member Paul Boyle, M.S., who passed away in 2004.

SHIS graduate student Valerio Mariani was selected by a panel of SHIS judges including faculty, alumni, and fellow students. Congratulations to Valerio for his award-winning poster “Fitting Atomic Structures Of Monomers Into EM Maps Of Symmetric Homo-Oligomers” that was first presented at the 49th Biophysical Society Meeting, February 15-19, 2005, in Long Beach, California.

The award was presented to Valerio at the May 5, 2005 SHIS Commencement ceremony in presence of six members of the Boyle family from Ireland.
