First Annual Paul C. Boyle Award for Excellence in Student Research
The Paul C.
Boyle Award for
Excellence in Student Research is awarded to a
program student in the School of Health Information Sciences for
individual research. The award is
named after SHIS graduate student and fellow Biomachina laboratory
member Paul
Boyle, M.S.,
who passed away in 2004.
SHIS graduate student Valerio Mariani was selected by a
panel
of SHIS judges including faculty, alumni, and
fellow students. Congratulations to Valerio for his
award-winning poster “Fitting
Atomic Structures Of Monomers Into EM Maps Of Symmetric Homo-Oligomers”
that was first presented at the 49th
Biophysical Society Meeting, February 15-19, 2005, in Long Beach,
California.
The award was
presented to Valerio
at the May 5, 2005 SHIS Commencement ceremony in presence of six
members of the
Boyle family from Ireland.
