Birmanns Departure
Dr. Stefan
Birmanns has resigned from his faculty position in Houston. I am
working with remaining lab members to archive software and scientific
data as we are shutting down the Houston operations. There should be
minimal impact to our user community and we will continue to make new
software versions available on schedule. Dr. Birmanns joined us in 2003
as a postdoctoral associate and was promoted to assistant professor
rank in 2006. In 2007 he became manager of the Houston lab when I moved
to New York. His departure completes the transition that began with my
move in 2007. I would like to thank Dr. Birmanns and his former team
for their contributions to my research grants and I wish them well in
